NON CORPORATE MEDIA IN ORISSA
Though the media sector in Odisha is dominated by corporations and political and business families of Odisha, there are a few media initiatives one comes across in the state capital and western part of the state who survive without any corporate patronage. They include Sarvodaya from Cuttack ( founded by late Manmohan Chaudhury), Viklapa Vichar (Founded by late Kisan Pattnaik) a periodical on pertinent social issues, Anwesha- a periodical from Sambalpur with quality articles on social and political issues, Manishar Bartabaha Swabhiman –a fortnightly from Berhampur on similar issues, Nishan- a periodical from Bhubaneswar on socio-political issues, Charchha- a periodical on social issues, Rudra Ahawan from Bolangir and Gana Istahar from Bargarh and Ban-Tulsi from Kalahandi are also reaching out to villagers in a the region. The list is indicative and not exhaustive.
